Great dining in an exclusive atmosphere

Ter Doest Abbey played an important role in Flanders from the 12th to the 16th century, not only in religious terms but also economically. This Cistercian Abbey had extensive land and was known for its rich collection of works of art and illuminated manuscripts. Apart from the many monks and abbots, many lay priests also stayed here.  One of them was the legendary Willem van Saeftinge, who became famous after taking part in the Battle of the Golden Spurs in 1302 and later left to join the Crusades.

Ter Doest is a unique historical location. In this oasis of peace, in the middle of the expanse of the polder landscape, there is an authentic 17th century farmhouse with a stylish restaurant and a spacious terrace. Moreover, from Hof Ter Doest there is a fantastic view over the monumental 13th century abbey barn, one of the oldest gothic buildings in Flanders.

For small and large parties.
Hof Ter Doest can accommodate around 250 guests. The restaurant is run by the Dendooven family, now the second generation. Intimate suppers, lunches and business dinners, company parties, seminars, receptions or wedding parties - anything is possible. Peter, Geert, Bart, Johan and David Dendooven will welcome you in style in the best Flemish tradition.

Have a wonderful time in the white village.
Lissewege is an idyllic polder village a stone’s throw from the coast and only a few kilometres from Bruges. The village is situated on the Boudewijn canal and the Lisseweegs Vaartje waterway, amid peaceful natural surroundings.
You will find more information at Hof Ter Doest itself: books with the complete history of Lissewege and the Ter Doest Abbey, photos, picture postcards, walking maps and information about the Sculpture route.
